Many questions are issued how to meet the public demands of a clean air in cities all over the world. The Chinese had to ban cars before the olympics in 2008 to lower the level of pollution. London aims on being the leading European City with electrical vehicles when they arrenge the olympic games in 2012. In Zurich trams and pedestrians dominates the street life. In Stockholm the bicycle lanes are crowded in the rush hour. There is a difference between these European examples and their American counterparts. In an article in The New York Times, written by Elisabeth Rosenthal, these differences are being described: “In the United States, there has been much more of a tendency to adapt cities to accommodate driving,” said Peder Jensen, head of the Energy and Transport Group at the European Environment Agency. “Here there has been more movement to make cities more livable for people, to get cities relatively free of cars.” Kaj Embrén, Sustainable Business Coach, +46-70-398 22 11, kaj@embren.com.
